{"id":3017,"date":"2020-10-22T09:40:02","date_gmt":"2020-10-22T09:40:02","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.5gworldpro.com\/?p=3017"},"modified":"2020-10-22T09:40:02","modified_gmt":"2020-10-22T09:40:02","slug":"5g-user-throughput-reached-5gbps","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/new.5gworldpro.com\/?p=3017","title":{"rendered":"5G User Throughput reached 5Gbps"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>On 20 October 2020, &nbsp;Verizon, Ericsson and Qualcomm Technologies have teamed up to be the first in the world to demonstrate 5G peak speeds of 5.06 Gbps.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Using 5G mmWave spectrum with carrier aggregation, a technology that combines multiple channels of spectrum to provide better efficiency for data sessions transmitting over the wireless network, the three companies combined eight separate channels of spectrum to achieve the multi-gigabit speeds.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The 5.06 Gbps speed was finally delivered in lab environment delivered using 800 MHz bandwidth in 28 GHz mmWave spectrum combined with 40 MHz for the 4G LTE anchor, so it was done in NSA Mode. This band combination is commercially supported in the Ericsson Radio System portfolio and several 5G devices available today powered by the Snapdragon X55 5G Modem-RF System.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Brian Mecum, Vice President of Device Technology at Verizon said \u201cWe have been driving the evolution of 5G technology from the early days and we continue to aggressively drive innovation &#8212; pushing the limits of the technology farther and faster for our customers,\u201d \u201cThis latest achievement is yet another milestone in providing a genuinely differentiated service for our customers on mmWave.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>All players are working hard to maximize the potential of this developing technology and when 5G will be fully mature, it has the potential of reaching speeds up to 10 Gbps, with latency below 5 ms. Also it will enable mobile connections to take place at a speed of &nbsp;500 km\/h with the ability to manage more than a million devices per km<sup>2<\/sup>&nbsp;and data volumes of 10 Tb\/s\/km<sup>2<\/sup>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This Collaboration with industry leaders Verizon Qualcomm and Ericsson in advancing 5G mmWave marks a significant milestone in making 5G a commercial reality, it has no doubt that the 5G mmWave will enable many new use cases for businesses and consumers as well as enable many of today\u2019s mobile devices to take advantage of its enhanced network capacity, multi-gigabit speeds and low latency.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>On 20 October 2020, &nbsp;Verizon, Ericsson and Qualcomm Technologies have teamed up to be the first in the world to demonstrate 5G peak speeds of 5.06 Gbps.
