Activating DSS in Verizon Network<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

It is\u00a0true\u00a0that Verizon has America’s fastest mobile network based on\u00a02\u00a0systems: a 4G LTE network that\u00a0is getting faster yearly, and a fast, high-capacity millimeter-wave called also “ultra wideband” (UWB) 5G . Verizon’s 4G LTE is frequently faster than T-Mobile’s as well as AT&T’s low-band 5G. Yet\u00a0Verizon’s UWB 5G network has\u00a0incredibly restricted limited coverage, potentially offering Verizon phones a 4G symbol\u00a0in cities where its competitors have\u00a05G.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In October 2020, Verizon introduced<\/a> “across the country\u00a05G” based on dynamic spectrum sharing (DSS)<\/a>, which reuses parts of 4G channels for 5G. Phones will automatically\u00a0choose\u00a0a 5G network over a 4G one, so Verizon\u00a0clients will see that desired 5G symbol appear.\u00a0 From the last tests done ,\u00a0using an iPhone 12 Pro in New York\u00a0City and Pixel 5 in Chicago, it shows\u00a0that DSS 5G is frequently slower than\u00a04G and people are getting frustrated and start calling it Desperately Slow System.<\/p>\n\n
