Europe does not intend\u00a0to get left behind when it<\/span>\u00a0concerns Open\u00a0 RAN, with 4 of the continent’s biggest\u00a0operators today signing an MoU<\/span>\u00a0detailing their commitment to the deployement of this brand-new technology.<\/p>\n

Deutshe Telekom, Vodafone, Orange, and also Telefonica each shared their individual commitment to launch Open RAN in their European markets. in Their statement the four operators\u00a0said that they would not only work\u00a0 each other, but also with various other ecosystem players, inluding of O-RAN alliance along with Telecom Infra Project and also Telecommunications Infra Project in order to make sure that open RAN gets to\u00a0competitive parity with traditional RAN<\/span>\u00a0solutions.<\/p>\n

The statement said that “This\u00a0initiative is an important milestone towards a diverse, reinvigorated supplier<\/span>\u00a0ecosystem\u00a0and\u00a0the availability of carrier-grade Open RAN technology for a<\/span> timely\u00a0commercial\u00a0deployment in Europe”.<\/p>\n

Most\u00a0of these operators have already made their commitment to the<\/span>\u00a0brand-new\u00a0technology clear over the past year or<\/span>\u00a0two. Just 2 days earlier,\u00a0Telefonica Germany announced it would be equipping 1,000 mobile sites with Open RAN<\/span>\u00a0technology, while Vodafone stated\u00a0at the end of last year it would be<\/span>\u00a0rolling our Open RAN equipements\u00a0in around 2,600 of its UK mobile sites by 2027.<\/span>\u00a0Orange\u00a0from it side confirmed that\u00a0 it was wanting to open up a TIP community\u00a0Lab in Paris focussing on the<\/span>\u00a0innovation,\u00a0as well as making a<\/span>\u00a0significant commitment to only acquire Open RAN technology from 2025.<\/p>\n
