{"id":4504,"date":"2021-08-22T22:15:32","date_gmt":"2021-08-22T22:15:32","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.5gworldpro.com\/?p=4504"},"modified":"2021-08-22T22:15:32","modified_gmt":"2021-08-22T22:15:32","slug":"6g-samsung-using-terahertz-spectrum","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/new.5gworldpro.com\/?p=4504","title":{"rendered":"6G : Samsung using Terahertz spectrum"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Samsung Electronics is showcasing a demonstration made collaboration with the University of California in Santa Barbara (UCSB) about the application of Terahertz (THz) spectrum for 6G wireless communications specifically within the band 140 Ghz<\/p>\n<p>The 140 GHz is a great band and a good starting point for this kind of 6G research because it\u2019s far enough from the 5G mmwave bands 28 GHz or even 39 GHz that are fairly popular in today\u2019s U.S. 5G deployments<\/p>\n<p>140 GHz band is a good intermediate stepping stone., it is not as high as the 300 GHz range, according to Charlie Zhang, an IEEE fellow and head of the Standards and Mobility Innovations Team at Samsung Research America. The<\/p>\n<p>UCSB\u2019s group, led by the Electrical and Computer Engineering Professor Mark Rodwell said :\u00a0 \u201cWe bring our knowledge of advanced mmWave technologies, in particular the THz spectrum above 100 GHz, focusing on devices and integrated circuits, while Samsung provides its expertise in wireless systems and cellular networks,\u201d Rodwell said in a statement.<\/p>\n<p>For 6G, it\u2019s still early days, but researchers are talking about a peak data rate of 50 times faster than 5G, as well as further reduced latency.
